Let’s face it. Starting a new school year can be challenging and anxiety-inducing. And especially if previous difficult years. Here are a few tips to help with the transition:
Listen!
Take a minute and encourage some conversation. Ask your child if they are nervous about anything specific. They may just be waiting to be asked! And can lead to real problem solving. And re-assurance.
New!
It’s a brand new year. New Teachers, new Rebbe. Just because it didn’t work out last year doesn’t mean this year won’t be fantastic. Sometimes the right fit can make a world of difference.
Routine.
Your child may be on a summer schedule. Going to sleep late, waking up late. Try to get them gradually on a more workable schedule. So put away the popcorn and start decreasing screen time! And help them get used to a school schedule.
Hope that helpful!
Wishing everyone a smooth year.
With lots of learning and growth.
