Elul. Maybe in Europe the earth trembled but for many the only thing they feel trembling is their heart! From stress and anxiety getting everyone ready to get back to school and Yeshiva.
Two words that need lots of mental prep: School shoes! A plethora of stores and endless lines. "I hate these, no one else will wear them" and other lovely commentary from the kids.
Is it very non-Elul-like to be more worried about homework than doing Teshuva?
The truth is, Elul does include all of those diverse and dialectical thoughts and more!
Yes, both can be true and can even lead to inspiration. Let's try this!
Yes, super-busy with school supplies
Spiritually getting ready for the new year as well.
We are hard at work getting our kids back to routine.
Our souls also thrive on routine, let's try to establish a good one and use some of it productively.
Hard to see our kids nervous about the new school year but they are also excited.
Let's also try to be excited about this month and Rosh Hashanah.
Wishing you all lots of luck with getting ready for school and buying those backpacks. And also filling your own bags with goodies, coping skills and also some spiritual fortitude.
